Lifsys Σ

Privacy Policy

Last updated 11 September 2026

Lifosys (“the app”) is operated by Sudhir Ranjan (“we”, “us”). This policy explains how the app handles your information. It applies to Lifosys on every platform we publish it for.

Your life data stays on your device. We do not operate a cloud database holding your journal entries, tasks, habits, financial records, health information, or any other personal entry. Those records remain on your device unless you deliberately export them or back them up to a service you control.

01 — What stays on your device

Lifosys is a personal life-management app. Everything you enter is written to private storage on your own device:

This information is stored in the app’s private storage area, which other apps on your device cannot read. It is protected by your device’s own security, including any screen lock or biometric lock you have enabled. Lifosys also offers an optional in-app lock using your device’s biometric authentication.

None of it reaches us. There is no Lifosys account system, no Lifosys-operated database holding your entries, and no automatic upload of anything you write.

Lifosys does not ask for your date of birth, gender, address, phone number, or any other demographic detail. We do not collect data we have no use for.

02 — What leaves your device, at your request

These things happen only when you choose them.

Backup to your own Google Drive

If you choose to sign in with Google and use the backup feature, the app creates a backup file containing your data and uploads it to your own Google Drive account. The app requests only Google’s drive.file scope, which limits its access to files Lifosys itself creates or that you explicitly open with it. It does not give Lifosys general access to your Drive. We have no access to your Drive or to the backup. You can delete it at any time.

Export to a file

You can export your data to a file and save it wherever you choose. The file goes only to the destination you select. Once exported, the file is outside the app’s control and is governed by wherever you put it.

Google Sign-In

If you sign in with Google, Lifosys receives your display name, email address, and profile photo from Google and stores them on your device so the app can greet you and show your picture. Lifosys does not transmit this information to any server we operate. Your profile photo is loaded from Google’s servers in order to display it. You are not required to sign in to use the app.

Location lookup

When you attach a place to a journal entry, the app asks your device for its location and may use Google’s services to convert that into a place name. The resulting location is saved with your journal entry on your device.

Purchases

Lifosys may offer optional paid features. Any purchase is processed entirely by the app store you installed from — Google Play or the Apple App Store. Your payment-card and payment-account details are handled by that store and are never received by Lifosys. The app receives the purchase information it needs to determine and provide your entitlement, and stores that on your device. The commercial terms of those purchases are set out in the Terms of Service.

03 — What leaves your device automatically

Two things are sent without you asking. Neither carries the entries you write.

Crash reports

Lifosys uses Firebase Crashlytics. If the app fails unexpectedly, a report is sent so the fault can be found and fixed. A report contains the technical details of the failure — where in the code it happened, your device model, your operating system version, the app version, and an identifier for this installation of the app.

We also attach short technical labels to help diagnose a failure. These are, in full:

No entry you have written is attached to a crash report. No journal text, no habit or task names, no financial amounts, no health entries, no photos, no name, and no email address are placed into a report by the app.

One limitation we would rather state than leave implied: a crash report includes the error message produced by the operating system or by an underlying library. We do not construct those messages, and in rare cases a low-level storage error can quote a fragment of the record it failed on. We do not attach such content deliberately and have no interest in it.

Crash reporting is active whenever the app runs. There is currently no in-app switch to disable it. It is the only way we can learn that the app is failing on a device we do not own. If you would prefer it were optional, write to us — we would like to know.

Notification registration

Lifosys uses Firebase Cloud Messaging so that we can send occasional announcements about new features and app updates. This registers an anonymous device identifier with Google’s notification service.

Announcements of this kind are promotional messages about the app. This channel is one-way: it allows us to send a message to your device. It does not allow us to read anything from your device, and none of your entries are transmitted through it. You can stop receiving these at any time by turning off notifications for Lifosys in your device settings.

Reminders for tasks and habits are different: they are generated on your device and involve no network connection at all.

04 — What we do not do

What “share” means here. The app uses services provided by Google to deliver specific features — crash reporting, notifications, Drive backup, location lookup, and payment processing. Those services receive the limited information described in sections 02, 03 and 05 in order to do their job. That is different from sharing your information for someone else’s commercial purposes, which we do not do.
Crash reports are not analytics. Analytics record what you do in an app — which screens you open, which buttons you press, how long you stay. Lifosys collects none of that. A crash report is sent only when the app fails, and describes the failure rather than your behaviour.

05 — Third-party services

The app uses services provided by Google, and, on Apple devices, by Apple. Most are used only when the relevant feature is used.

ServiceWhenWhat it handles
Google Sign-InOnly if you sign inName, email, profile photo
Google DriveOnly if you back upYour backup, in your own Drive
Play ServicesOnly if you attach a placeYour location, at that moment
Cloud MessagingApp announcementsAn anonymous device identifier
CrashlyticsOnly if the app failsTechnical crash details
App store billingOnly if you buy somethingThe purchase; we never see your payment details

These interactions are governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and, where relevant, Apple’s Privacy Policy.

06 — Support communications

If you write to us at our support address, we receive whatever you choose to put in that message — your email address, what you write, and anything you attach.

We use it only to answer you, investigate a problem you have reported, and keep a record of the exchange. We do not add it to any other system, use it for marketing, or share it.

Please do not send us your entries unless we ask. Your journal, financial records and health entries are yours and we would rather not hold them. If investigating a fault genuinely requires part of a file, we will say so and explain why — and you can always decline. Support email is handled through Google Workspace-hosted or equivalent mail infrastructure; ask us if you would like the current details.

07 — Retention and deletion

Your data remains on your device for as long as you keep the app installed. You are always in control of it, and there are four ways to remove it.

Delete individual items

Any entry, habit, task, transaction, or attachment can be deleted from within the app at the moment you no longer want it.

Sign out

Signing out, from the Profile screen, removes your name, email address, and profile photo from the device and revokes the app’s access to your Google Drive. Everything you have written stays on your phone, untouched.

Delete everything

The Profile screen offers Delete Everything. It asks you to type the word DELETE, and then erases every habit, journal entry, task, transaction, photo, attachment, and setting from the device, revokes Google access, and returns the app to the state it was in when you first installed it. This cannot be undone.

Backups you have already made in your own Google Drive are deliberately not touched, so that a mistaken tap is recoverable. You can delete those yourself from Drive at any time.

Uninstall

Uninstalling Lifosys removes its private app data from your device. Files you exported yourself, and backups you created in your own Google Drive, are not removed — they are in locations you control, and you can delete them whenever you wish.

Because we do not hold your entries, there is no copy of them on our side to delete. Deletion happens entirely on your device and takes effect immediately. Crash reports and support emails are the exceptions, and you can ask us to delete those — see sections 03, 06 and 09. Full details, including how to contact us about deletion after uninstalling, are on the data deletion page.

08 — Security and breaches

Your data is stored in the app’s private storage area, isolated from other apps by the operating system. You can enable an in-app biometric lock for additional protection.

Data transmitted during backup, restore, or crash reporting is encrypted in transit using TLS.

For transparency: data stored on your device and within backup files is not separately encrypted by the app beyond the protections your operating system and device lock provide. We recommend keeping a screen lock enabled on your device.

If we become aware of a breach affecting personal data we hold — which would mean crash reports or support correspondence, since we hold nothing else — we will notify the relevant supervisory authority and any affected people without undue delay, and in any case within the time limits that apply to us. In India that means notifying the Data Protection Board; in the European Economic Area it means notifying the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours where the breach is reportable.

09 — Your rights and how to reach us

Depending on where you live and which data protection laws apply, you may have rights over your personal data — commonly rights of access, correction, deletion, and objection, and in some places the right to complain to a regulator. The rights available and the conditions attached to them differ between jurisdictions, so we do not attempt to list one set here.

Because Lifosys is built so your entries stay on your device, most requests about that content are answered directly in the app: you can view, edit, export, or delete anything whenever you wish, without asking us.

Where we do hold something — a crash report, or an email you sent us — write to us and we will act on it.

Grievance contact

For any question, complaint, or request about privacy, including a grievance under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the rules made under it, contact:

Sudhir Ranjan, India. We aim to respond within a reasonable period and in any case within the time the applicable law allows.

10 — Children

Lifosys is intended for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not design or market it for them.

We do not ask for anyone’s age, and we do not collect the contents of anyone’s entries, so we have no way to identify a child user. If you believe a child has been using the app and you would like to discuss it, please write to us.

11 — Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.

If we introduce anything that collects information we do not collect today — a newsletter, for example — this policy will be updated before that feature becomes available, not after.
